The first case of Coronavirus started of in China in early November 2019. It made it's way to Ireland and the first case was announced by the Public Health Emergency Service on Saturday the 29th of Febuary 2020. On Sunday the 1st of March one Dublin school announced it was closing for two weeks after a number of their pupils had recently returned from Italy. A COVID-19 case was confirmed in Trinity college and this resulted in the closure of the University firstly to the public and then to all the staff and students. Following the WHO (World Health Organisation) advice and the seriousness of the situation, other univerities and colleges like UCD, DCU and DKIT had closed some departments. Following the Taoiseach Leo Varadkars announcement on the 12th of March 2020, all schools, universities, childcare facilities and driving test centres were forced to close with immediate affect from the 13th of March. As a result of this we have decided to temporarily close for the safety of our students and staff and to reduce the spread of COVID-19.Other businesses that have also closed temporarily are Dundalk Race Course, Dundalk FC, Dundalk rugby club, McGeoughs Bar and Resteraunt, The Crowne Plaza, The Lisdoo and many more.
