      Head instructor of United Krav Maga Dundalk, Anthony Cunnane is inviting taxi drivers to free self-defence lessons after the murder of local taxi driver Martin Mulligan last FridayThe class will take place this Saturday (October 3rd) 1p.m. – 3p.m. or Sunday (October 4th) 11a.m. – 1p.m.

  • Drink driver caught hours before ban

    A drink driver who was caught behind the wheel just hours before a ban for the same charge was due to start, has been put off the road for six years at Dundalk District Court. Dermot O'Connor, Bridge Cottage South, Horsemount, Mallow, Co. Cork, admitted a charge of drink driving arising out of an incident at Main Street, Castlebellinham on June 3 2014. Judge Mary Devins heard how 61-year-old O'Connor was found by Gardai in the County Louth village shortly before 11pm. The Toyota Avensis he was driving had its front wheel stuck on a grass verge and O'Connor was trying to reverse.

    Dundalk could finally be getting a Ski Slope with an additional trampoline park for the town, Plans have been drawn up for a 4,500sqm leisure centre on the outskirts of Dundalk, cost around €7m to build. The proposed development would be located at Red Cow on the Old Newry Road, beside Dowdallshill GF&AC.

    New Penalty point offences. Changes to the penalty points system were introduced 1 August 2014 and again on 8 December 2014. On 1 August 2014 the most notable changes involved an increase in penalty points for speeding, seatbelt wearing and for using a mobile phone while driving. A further significant change from 1 August 2014 is that a person taking out a first learner permit after that date will be disqualified on reaching seven penalty points.
